Eight Podium Finishes for Men’s Swim & Dive at Lehigh

Adelson, Brophy secure top spots in Patriot League dual

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sam Adelson swept gold on the diving board and David Brophy captured first place in the 500 Free to headline Colgate's eight podium finishes Friday evening inside Jacobs Pool. The Raiders were outscored by Lehigh 172-69 in Patriot League dual action. 

COACH PRETRE'S COMMENTS

"The coaching staff is extremely pleased with our team tonight going against a very, very talented Lehigh squad on the road. We were able to steal some races and definitely make the meet interesting. Our biggest challenge right now is just staying healthy. If we can do that, we're gonna have an even better season than last year. We're very proud of our Colgate swimming and diving team."

HOW IT HAPPENED

Adelson won the 1-Meter and 3-Meter dives with respective scores of 264.15 and 276.83. His scores edged teammate Gavin Pacitti, who placed second in both events with scores of 230.78 and 218.48. 

Brophy continued his stellar start to his first-year campaign with the top spot in the 500 Free, clocking in with a time of 4:44.96. The Princeton, N.J., native also secured a podium finish in 200 Free as well, taking third place with a time of 1:43.44. 

Matt Freund found the podium in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:57.49, while Michael Granin closed out Colgate's top three finishes with a bronze in the 200 Breast (2:16.87).
