POTSDAM, N.Y. — Andrew Takacs recorded his first career shutout, making 29 saves in Colgate's 2-0 win at Clarkson.
COACH HARDER'S COMMENTS
"We had full commitment from our entire group tonight. We were selfless and courageous throughout."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both of the Raiders' goals came in the third period. Michael Neumeier sealed the deal for Colgate, giving his team the two-goal advantage with 9:54 remaining. The first-year collected the puck following a save by Takacs and passed it to Brett Chorske, who played it back to him. Neumeier then skated in and fired a shot from the high slot.
- After two scoreless periods, Niko Rexine finally broke the stalemate just under five minutes into the third. Rexine intercepted a Clarkson pass before skating in, beating the goalie, and flicking in a backhand shot.
- Takacs completed his shutout with 12 stops in the third. He made two big saves with less than two minutes to play.
- The netminder stopped 10 shots in the middle frame, including six saves in the final 2:33, preventing the Golden Knights from getting on the board.
- Colgate was held scoreless in the second period despite two power-play chances, one of which was abbreviated to a minute and 13 seconds.
- Neither side could find the back of the net in the first period. Both teams had a power play in the opening seven minutes. The Raiders had a second power play later in the period but could not capitalize.
- Takacs recorded seven saves in the opening frame, withstanding some early chances by the Golden Knights with four stops.
