#5 Raiders Dropped by #10 Saints, 3-2

Tightly-contested top-10 clash falls in favor of St. Lawrence

Box Score CANTON, N.Y. — No. 5 Colgate could not survive a slow offensive night as No. 10 St. Lawrence netted three goals in the final 10 minutes to steal a 3-2 win in Appleton Arena on Friday night.

The Raiders only mustered a season-low 23 shots on goal, and they did not score until a pair of empty-netters found nylon with under two minutes remaining.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A deadlocked first period saw a combined 10 shots on goal, including a season-low four from Colgate, and did not have a stoppage until just over 16 minutes into the game.
  • The Raiders two best looks from the first came on a breakaway from first-year Alexia Aubin and a point-blank look for sophomore Kaia Malachino, both of which were swallowed up by the Saints' netminder.
  • The scoreless second saw just 11 shots on goal but three combined power-play attempts, two from St. Lawrence and one for Colgate, all of which were killed without any dangerous scoring chances arising.
  • The final frame seemed to be trending in the same direction as the previous two until the Saints broke open the scoring on a wrister from the point at the 10:28 mark.
  • Just four minutes later, the home side doubled its advantage.
  • With senior goalie Hannah Murphy pulled from net, her classmate Neena Brick tucked a puck into the top left corner off a rebounded shot from junior Elyssa Biederman.
  • After St. Lawrence reasserted the two-goal lead with an empty-net score, fifth-year Kristýna Kaltounková bounced a puck off a Saint's skate with just nine seconds left in regulation.

GAME NOTES
  • With her last-second score, Kaltounková extended her point streak to 11 games where she has racked up 21 points.
  • Biederman continued her scoring streak to nine games.
  • The Raiders' four first-period shots on goal match their lowest output so far this season, and their 23 shots for the game also tie their season low.
  • St. Lawrence's Taylor Lum is just the second opposing player to score two goals against the Raiders in the 2024-25 season.
