Colgate Punches Ticket To ECAC Final

Greig tallies four points in final 10 minutes to propel Colgate to ECAC Championship game

HAMILTON – Dara Greig scored or assisted on all four third-period goals as Colgate defeated Cornell, 5-1, in ECAC Semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Class of 1965 Arena. Danielle Serdachny added a goal and two assists to stretch her scoring streak to four consecutive games, while Emma Pais added her ninth multi-point performance of the season. With the win, Colgate advances to the ECAC Final for the fourth time in as many years.

"It was kind of just one of those nights where it seems like you're in the right spot at the right time," Greig said. "I'm just proud of our group."

Serdachny started the scoring with a wrister from the left faceoff circle at the 16:30 mark of the first period. It was Colgate's 44th power-play goal of the season, a mark which leads the nation, and the first of three man-up scores for the Raiders.

A scoreless second stanza saw a 19-10 shots advantage for the hosts but nothing in the scoring column for either side.

The vast majority of goal-scoring came in the final frame, starting with a Big Red tally to tie things at one.

Greig did not let the stalemate last for long, as she quickly put the Raiders back in front when she collected her own rebound and deposited it into the back of the net.

She doubled the lead two minutes later with a power-play goal to give Colgate a 3-1 lead, and Allyson Simpson slotted the dagger that pushed the cushion to three tallies with under five to play.

Pais provided the exclamation point when she potted the Raiders' third power-play goal of the night to send Colgate to its fourth-consecutive ECAC Championship game.
