HAMILTON— Ethan Manderville scored twice to help Colgate defeat Brown 4-2 Saturday evening at the Class of 1965 Arena.
Tommy Bergsland also logged two points with a pair of assists.
"A good solid team effort tonight. I am hoping to keep this momentum going into our final two weekends," said head coach Mike Harder.
Manderville netted back-to-back tallies to give his squad a 2-0 advantage in the opening period. His first goal came at the 13:15 mark after
Reid Irwin passed to Bergsland, who ripped a shot that Manderville redirected into the back of the net, making it 1-0.
The fifth-year tallied his second of the contest with 43 seconds remaining.
Nick Anderson tapped the puck along the boards behind the net, leading to a scrum in the corner.
Jake Schneider came free with the puck and passed to Manderville for a shot he fired home.
Alex DiPaolo made it 3-0 Raiders after scoring on a power play with 8:43 left in the second.
Brett Chorske and
Ross Mitton played the puck back-and-forth to each other until Mitton passed across the ice to DiPaolo for a one-timer he ripped in from the left faceoff circle.
The Bears got one back with a power play goal from Matt Sutton just under seven minutes into the third. Although,
Ben Raymond restored the Raiders' three-goal advantage less than two minutes later.
Dom Foglia collected the puck behind Colgate's net and played it to
Tommy Bergsland, who made a long pass down the ice to Raymond. The junior raced by a defender before slotting a shot into the bottom left corner to put the scoreboard at 4-1.
Brown answered again to cut the deficit in half when Zackary Tonelli found the back of the net just under 11 minutes into the third.
Colgate picked up a big penalty kill minutes later to prevent the Bears from making it a one-goal game.
