Elyssa Biederman recorded a tally for the third-straight game in her 25th career multi-point outing, but a pair of third period goals from No. 3/4 Minnesota Duluth helped defeat No. 7 Colgate, 3-2.
"It was an entertaining game with a great crowd," head coach Stefan Decosse said. "There were two great teams competing hard. I was pleased with the way we fought through all 60 minutes. We fought hard, played as a team and competed at a high level."
Senior goalie Hannah Murphy headlined a scoreless opening period with 16 saves as part of 29 on the night for the veteran captain.
The Bulldogs broke the stalemate in the second with a shorthanded breakaway on a Colgate power play, but Biederman brought the Raiders even less than a minute later on the same woman-up advantage with a one-timer from the left faceoff circle.
Overall, Colgate was just 1-6 on power play chances while executing a near-perfect penalty kill that eliminated four out of five Bulldog advantages.
Fifth-year forward Kristýna Kaltounková gave the Raiders their first lead of the night halfway through the second period when she intercepted a puck at center ice. The assistant captain pushed a one on three rush and came out on top, firing a missile five-hole to beat the Bulldog netminder.
After outshooting the visitors 13-8 in the middle period and taking a 2-1 lead, the Raiders could not hold on in the third conceding the tying goal three minutes into the final frame and allowing the winner with 10 minutes to play.
A late Raider penalty prevented Murphy from vacating the net until there was less than a minute to play, and despite a handful of promising Colgate scoring chances, Minnesota Duluth escaped the Class of 1965 Arena with a narrow 3-2 triumph.
