Raiders Finish Regular Season on High Note

Biederman tied the freshman program record for points in a season

TROY, N.Y. – Colgate Women's Ice Hockey made the trip to Houston Field House Saturday for their final regular season matchup against RPI, as they won by a score of 6-1.

Eight different Raiders collected two or more points in Saturday's win, Kristýna Kaltounková led the charge with a team-high two goals.

Freshman forward Elyssa Biederman tied the freshman program record for points in a season with 33, as she collected two assists.

Colgate edged out RPI on the face off dot, as they won 51.5 percent of their draws. Danielle Serdachny, Biederman, and Sammy Smigliani dominated the draw, winning 60 percent or more.

Smigliani received passes from Dara Greig and Katie Chan on the offensive rush as she picked the netminders corner just two minutes into the first period. The senior forward's goal was the lone goal through 20 minutes of play. Colgate led in shots 20-7.

Kaltounková opened up the second period just four minutes into play for the Raiders, as she tapped in a shot from just outside the crease. Brick and Allyson Simpson collected apples on the second goal of the game. RPI closed the gap with a short-handed goal with just under five minutes to go. Through forty minutes of play, Colgate led 42-9 in shots.

Stewart added her name to the score sheet two minutes into the third period as she banged one in from the blue paint. Chan continued her point-producing day with a goal out front with four minutes remaining. Kaltounková found the back of the net 19 seconds later with a rocket from the slot. Greig finished off the period with a tap-in from the crease to secure the 6-1 win.
