Overtime Needed in Raiders Loss

Serdachny Extends Point Streak

HAMILTON – Colgate women's ice hockey downed by No. 4/2 Quinnipiac in an overtime thriller at Class of 1965 Arena Friday night.

The Raiders were backed by Hannah Murphy who collected her first loss on the season, bringing her to a 10-1 record between the pipes. Murphy saved 23 shots.

Danielle Serdachny collected her 16th goal of the season and the 51st of her career late in the third period, extending her point streak to 11 games. Serdachny's game-tying goal forced the game into overtime.

Quinnipiac fell into penalty trouble early into the first period, collecting back-to-back minor penalties. Colgate's power play managed a handful of shots throughout the man advantage but fell short, the first period ended 0-0.

Colgate opened up the second period with different energy, managing 13 shots throughout 20 minutes of play. Tanner Gates was called for a minor penalty midway through the period, but the Raiders' penalty kill stood tall, keeping the game tied 0-0.

The third period got off to a quick start as the Bobcats punched one past Murphy, as they grabbed their first lead of the game. Quinnipiac managed to hold the 1-0 lead for the next 14 minutes before Captain Serdachny slid one through the pads of the Quinnipiac netminder. Elyssa Biederman and Dara Greig collected assists on the play. Biederman and Greig both extended their point streak to six games a piece as the third period ended by a score of 1-1.

Quinnipiac managed to score early into overtime, firing one past Murphy just 35 seconds into the period, as they secured the win and season sweep over Colgate. The Raiders moved to 18-3 overall in tonight's loss.
