The Raiders (11-14-3, 6-7-3 ECAC Hockey) trailed the Dutchmen (10-15-3, 7-9-1 ECAC Hockey) 4-3 with 1:30 left in the final period when head coach Don Vaughan called a timeout and pulled goalie Mitch Benson in favor of an extra skater. The strategy worked.
Belpedio scored his fourth goal of the season with the extra attacker on the ice with 1:14 left in the game to tie the score at 4-4.
McKechney took advantage of a Union miscue seconds later to net the go-ahead goal and give Colgate a 5-4 lead. Colton Young provided the pass that led to McKechney's 10th goal of the season.
Griffin Lunn added an empty net goal for Colgate with 0:19 on the clock. The score was his 10th of the season as well.
Colgate got on the board first just over five minutes into the opening period when Colton Young scored his team-best 12th goal of the season. Young knocked a rebound out of the air from the left side of the net.

Union took its first lead of the game when Josh Kosack netted a goal just 2:44 into the second period.
The Raiders knotted the score again with 7:35 remaining in the second period. Levi Glasman took a pass from Ross Mitton just inside the blue line and sent the puck into the top right corner of the net. Glasman's goal was his second of the season.
Just over two minutes later, Colgate's Ethan Manderville put the puck into the net from the left side with 5:29 left in the period. Manderville's fourth goal of the season was assisted by Arnaud Vachon.
Union added to the scoring barrage late in the second period when Gabriel Seger tied the score with 4:05 remaining in the frame.
Two minutes later Union's Dylan Anhorn gave the Dutchmen the lead back, 4-3, with a power-play goal.
Colgate put 34 shots on the goal, while Union had 31 shots on net.
The Raiders' win extended the streak to four straight games without a loss.

Head Coach Don Vaughan
"It was a crazy finish for sure. I was very pleased with how the guys stuck with it. The swings in momentum were odd tonight but we kept focused. We played desperate hockey in the third period and were rewarded with a couple of fortunate bounces at the end. That's hockey. We will take it and get ready for another battle tomorrow at RPI."
