Box Score CANTON, N.Y. – Despite the Raiders keeping the score close throughout the contest
, the No. 5 Colgate women's hockey team fell to St. Lawrence by a score of 3-2. With the loss, the Raiders are 11-5-1 overall with a 6-3 ECAC Hockey record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first period featured chances at the net for both teams, but a pair of early Colgate penalties set the tone for the rest of the period as St. Lawrence scored two power play goals in the period. Despite being down 2-0, the Raiders were outshooting the Saints throughout the period 7-5.
Trailing by two goals pushed the Raiders to create offensive momentum in the second period. At the 2:22 mark of the period, junior
Delani MacKay scored her first goal of the season to cut the Saints' lead to 2-1.
Colgate continued to create pressure all over the ice but headed into the final period trailing 2-1. At the end of the second, Colgate was outshooting the Saints 24-12 as the Raiders generated a game-high 17 shots throughout the period.
St. Lawrence scored early in the third period to make it a two-goal game once again, but at the 9:50 mark of the third, junior
Noemi Neubauerova received a stellar pass from sophomore
Sammy Smigliani in the crease to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Even though Colgate kept getting shots on goal throughout the third period, they were unable to cut the difference. Opting for the extra skater for nearly the final two minutes, Colgate had a strong cycle in the Saints' zone, but the chances continued to be kept from the twine. Ultimately, the Raiders outshot St. Lawrence by a 38-25 advantage, but were unable to force overtime before the horn on the 3-2 final.

Eleri MacKay in the defensive zone who then skated up the left side of the ice and passed it to junior
Delani MacKay at the edge of the left faceoff and shot it the right side of the net.

Coralie Larose in the left faceoff zone, sophomore
Sammy Smigliani chipped it to junior
Noemi Neubauerova at the edge of the crease who poked the puck into the back of the net.
STATISTICAL STANDOUTS
• Recording her team-leading eighth goal of the season was junior
Noemi Neubauerova. With the tally, she extends to a three-game point streak, behind her career-high of six shots on goal.
• With her assist in tonight's contest, sophomore
Sammy Smigliani extends to a four-game point streak (3G, 3A).
• Junior
Tanner Gates now has a team-leading 12 assists on the season with her apple on the first goal.

Delani MacKay notched her first goal of the season and the 10th of her career to open the scoring.
• Leading the team in faceoffs was junior
Rosy Demers, who won 63.2 percent.

Kayle Osborne recorded 22 saves throughout the contest, including a game-high 12 saves in the third period.

• St. Lawrence 3, No. 5 Colgate 2
RECORD UPDATES
• No. 5 Colgate holds a 11-5-1 record and is 6-3-0 in ECAC Hockey play.
• St. Lawrence is now 2-5-0 overall and has a conference record of 2-4-0.

The Raiders will host St. Lawrence in the series finale at 4 p.m. Sunday at Class of 1965 Arena when Colgate celebrates Senior Night for its six-player graduating class.
