Box Score HAMILTON, N.Y. - It took just 34 seconds for Colgate to strike first against Yale on Friday night inside the Class of 1965 Arena. The early goal proved to be all the Raiders would need in the 3-0 shutout over the Bulldogs.  

Colton Young netted his team-best ninth goal of the season in the opening minute of the game for Colgate (7-7-0, 2-3 ECAC Hockey) who kept Yale (0-5, 0-4 ECAC Hockey) winless on the season. 

The shutout by Colgate's goalkeeper Carter Gylander was the Raider's first of the season and the second of the sophomore's career. Gylander picked up his sixth victory in net in the 2021-22 campaign. He recorded 14 saves in the win. 

Colgate scored two more times in the first period to take control of the game. Alex Young, the younger brother of Colton, gave the Raiders a 2-0 lead with his fourth goal of the season at the 10:21 mark of the period, while Alex DiPaolo netted his third goal of the season 11 seconds later to give the Raiders a 3-0 lead. 

Alex Young's goal was assisted by Josh McKechney. Matt Verboon and PJ Garrett assisted on DiPaolo's goal. 

Colton Young's goal was assisted by Ethan Manderville and Jeff Stewart. 

Friday marked the second time this season the Young brothers netted a goal in the same game. The pair also each scored in the 6-5 loss to Western Michigan on Oct. 29. 

Colgate outshot Yale 24-14, including 11-3 in the first period.
