Kayle Osborne registered her second shutout of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first period was incredibly fast-paced as both teams generated opportunities to score. The Raiders dominated possession throughout the period and at the halfway mark, Colgate had seven shots on goal compared to the Saints' one. Colgate also had a chance to score after St. Lawrence was called for holding but was unable to capitalize on the power play. As the first period came to a close, the Raiders were ultimately outshooting the Saints by an 14-11 margin.
The Raiders continued to dominate possession in the second period and had lots of great looks, which was highlighted by a shorthanded look by
Coralie Larose during the Saints' lone power play of the period. At the end of the second, the Raiders had 22 shots on goal compared to St. Lawrence's 16.
In the third period, the Raiders continued to get good shots on goal but were still held off the board. Colgate had a big chance as the team drew its fourth power play of the game with 12:39 remaining in the period, but the Saints defense was relentless and burned the man advantage. As the horn sounded on regulation, the Raiders held a dominant 38-21 edge in shots on goal.
Entering overtime play, Colgate immediately controlled the puck to bring it into the offensive zone. At the 2:49 mark, sophomore
Kaitlyn O'Donohoe received a centering pass from junior
Tanner Gates before tapping it through the backdoor to lift the Raiders to a 1-0 win.
