SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Colgate men's ice hockey had several quality scoring chances throughout Friday night's game but couldn

't get one to go until
Trevor Cosgrove (Exeter, New Hampshire) forced overtime with 48.6 seconds to go in the third period.
The Raiders tied No. 19 Union 1-1 at Messa Rink and picked up a crucial point in the race for home ice.
Bobby McMann (Wainwright, Alberta) circled around the goal before shifting the puck to Cosgrove at the left point. Cosgrove stepped into a shot and fired it through traffic to beat Union goaltender Jake Kupsky high, glove side with the game-tying goal. It was Cosgrove's fourth of the year.
Goaltender
Colton Point (North Bay, Ontario) was stellar for the Raiders all night long as he recorded 21 saves, including 11 in the second period alone.
In the scoreless first period, both Point and Kupsky turned away several high quality scoring chances. Kupsky had two big saves on shots from
Josh McKechney (Calgary, Alberta), with one on a breakaway and another on a backdoor tap.
The second period continued much like the first as Point made a great save early on. Colgate's best chance of the period came with 12 minutes to go as
Jared Cockrell (Readfield, Maine) made a great play to control the puck next to the goal. He put the puck in the slot where
Mike Panowyk (Whitby, Ontario) dove and flung it on goal. Kupsky made the save before denying two more shots from McKechney to keep it scoreless.
Union broke the deadlock with 1:44 to go in the second. After Cole Maier was knocked to his knees, he flipped the puck wide of the goal and Ryan Scarfo was there to deflect it home with the handle of his stick.
Point kept Colgate in the game with five saves in the third period before Cosgrove's game-tying goal.

Head Coach
Don Vaughan
"That was one of our best games of the year. I know we had opportunities to score and they didn't go but I was really pleased with our effort against a very good Union team. When you get down in this building a lot of things can happen and I was just really proud of our effort."
"We played to win in overtime, which is great for a young team like ours. I was just really happy that we stuck with it and great that Cos got that game-tying goal. We had a couple good looks in overtime to finish."
"Cosgrove is way more of a hockey player than any of us thought. We saw it last year in juniors, he had a really good year in th

e BCHL but he's not playing like a freshman. He hasn't played like a freshman from the beginning of the year. He's a great asset for us and someone that is obviously going to see a lot of minutes."
"Point made a couple of huge stops, as did their kid. The goalies were really good at both ends tonight. It was so great to see Colton go in and not be bothered at all by the injury and played through it."
"We want to play at home next weekend so we know the one way to do that is to win tomorrow night."
Freshman
Trevor Cosgrove
"It was a good look from Bobby, we had Snods in front of the net so there was just a lot of traffic. We needed that point so that's huge."
"Their goalie was hot all night, especially down low, so it was just huge to finally put one away by the end of the game. Thank god we got the point."
"As a team, it was one of our best games. Our effort was there, our energy was there and as a d-corps we were solid. They liked to chip pucks in and take the body. We answered it by playing a simple game. Point made some big saves like always and we just played a solid game. Hopefully we keep that up moving forward."
