HAMILTON –
Junior defender Olivia Zafuto netted two goals for the first time in her career to help the No. 4 Colgate women's hockey team past Rensselaer 5-0, completing the ninth Raider weekend sweep of the season.

Zafuto was the only mutlipoint performer as 12 different Raiders recorded points.

The victory also ties Colgate's program record of 22 wins in a season, which the Raiders reached each of the last two seasons.

Zafuto struck 5:35 into the contest on a one-timer that went top shelf with the assists coming from Coralie Larose and Breanne Wilson-Bennett. Zafuto, who played her 99th career game Saturday, had scored goals on 17 separate occasions before finding the net again in the third period.

Megan Sullivan tacked on the second goal of the opening period with 4:58 remaining in the frame. The Raiders entered the first intermission with a 2-0 advantage.

Just over a minute into the second period, Shelby Perry snuck a shot through the five-hole to the back of the net and the Raiders led 3-0. The reigning ECAC Hockey Player of the Week has compiled nine points (4g, 5a) in her last five games.

Entering the third period, RPI had fired only three shots on goal. They finished with 10 shots compared to Colgate's 42.

Julia Vandyk was able to deny each of the 10 shots she faced to record her second shutout of the season and ninth of her career.

Lauren Wildfang capped the scoring with a third-period goal for her fifth of the season.

FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach Greg Fargo
On his team's performance as a whole
"I'm really getting comfortable with the way we're playing. Time and time again, we're doing the right thing away from the puck, which leads to good, quality chances at the other end. It was great to give up only 10 shots on goal and that's a result of doing things on the right side of it."

On reaching the 22 wins on the season
"It's nice to hit that mark again. It's been just a number that's popped up over the last couple of years and we've got a lot season left."

On what it's like to work with this team
"It's just a lot of fun coming to the rink with this group. Beyond the numbers, the wins, it's just a fun group. We want to keep playing as long as we can possibly play and everybody's on board for that."
