ITHACA, N.Y. – The Colgate men's ice hockey team traveled to nationally ranked No. 12/15 rival Cornell Tuesday evening and fell to the Big Red 4-0 at Lynah Rink.
Tuesday also marked the third annual Courage Classic with both teams honoring a couple children from Camp Good Days that have been diagnosed with and treated for cancer.
After taking a 2-0 lead into the second period, Trevor Yates gave the Big Red a 3-0 lead 1:01 into the middle stanza. The Big Red worked the puck around on the zone before Finn stopped a shot from the point. The rebound corralled to Yates who put it home.
Cornell added a second goal in the second period with 2:13 to play as Jeff Malott skated through the Colgate defense to put home the goal.
The Raiders' best scoring chance came just before the Big Red's fourth goal as
Derek Freeman (Newburyport, Massachusetts) had a shot sliding towards the far post but Cornell goaltender Mitch Gillam made the toe save.

Charlie Finn (North Vancouver, British Columbia) held the Big Red off the board in the third period, making seven saves to finish the game with 25, while Gillam stopped all 28 shots for his second shutout of the season.

The Big Red win their third consecutive game to improve to 15-6-2 (10-4-2 ECAC Hockey) while the Raiders fall to 6-17-5 (4-10-2 ECAC Hockey) with the loss.
