HAMILTON –
Sophomore Bobby McMann (Wainwright, Alberta) netted two points for the second straight game but the No. 19 Colgate men's ice hockey team fell to No. 8/7 Clarkson, 5-2, for their first home loss of the season at Class of 1965 Arena.

The Golden Knights snapped the Raiders' three-game winning streak and seven-game unbeaten streak, as well as the Raiders' seven-game unbeaten streak at home to open up the season.

McMann and John Snodgrass (Eagan, Minnesota) each picked up multiple points in the game as Snodgrass tallied a pair of assists and Adam Dauda (Kitchener, Ontario) scored his third goal of the season for the Raiders.

Sheldon Rempal led Clarkson on offense and Josh Dickinson who each scored a pair of goals in the game while Kevin Charyszyn had a pair of assists.

Both Colgate and Clarkson thrived on the power play with each team going 2 for 3 on their chances with the extra skater.

McMann put the Raiders on the board first with 9:32 left in the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Off a faceoff win from Dauda, John Snodgrass (Eagan, Minnesota) poked the puck back to McMann where he dumped it off for Jacob Panetta (Belleville, Ontario). McMann overlapped Panetta, who fed him with a pass, where McMann fired the shot through the slot and past a screen from Snodgrass to take the lead.

The Golden Knights answered back just over three minutes later to tie the game before Nic Pierog gave Clarkson a 2-1 lead 5:16 into the third period.

Clarkson was benefactors of a late Ken Citron (Cos Cob, Connecticut) penalty in the second period which gave Rempal the power-play goal 54 seconds into the third period. The Golden Knights added a pair of goals over the next eight minutes to take a 5-1 lead.

Dauda managed to get a goal back for the Raiders with exactly one second left on the clock. McMann broke through the Clarkson defense and his centering feed to Snodgrass went of Snodgrass' skate to the end boards. Snodgrass fired a pass to Dauda unattended in the slot where he snapped the puck past Clarkson goaltender Jake Kielly's glove.

FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach Don Vaughan
"Clarkson's a really good hockey team and we knew that coming in. They're a different kind of Clarkson team than what we've seen in the past. They've always been heavy on pucks and played well defensively but they have some skill. They really took advantage on the power plays tonight."

"I was disappointed in some of our efforts on our penalty kill. Our penalty kill has been really good but tonight we had some mental breakdowns against a good team and they capitalized."

"The first period was good and we had some good scoring chances in the second. We had a breakaway and a couple other really good looks down low that didn't go. If any one of those goes in, it could be a different story."

"That's a good lesson for our young team, you can't take a shift off and we have to be better tomorrow against St. Lawrence. They lost again tonight but I guarantee they're not going to roll over, I know Mark Morris and that team so well. We just need to respond."

"[Bobby's] a big strong guy that can possess that puck. He possesses it as well as anybody in the league. He's getting rewarded for his hard work over the puck. He's a really good hockey player and the puck is starting to go in for him."

UP NEXT
The No. 19 Raiders host the St. Lawrence Saints (1-11-1, 0-4-1 ECAC Hockey) on Saturday night to wrap up ECAC Hockey play in the 2017 calendar year with puck drop set for 7 p.m. at Class of 1965 Arena.
