Hanover, N.H. -- The Colgate Raiders finished their weekend road trip with an impressive 6-1 victory over Dartmouth.
Colgate took a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game when
Megan Sullivan (Toronto, Ontario) intercepted a clear attempt and beat goaltender Robyn Chemago glove side.
Freshman
Livia Altmann (Arosa, Switzerland) doubled the Raiders' lead in the closing minutes of the period.
Shelby Perry (Elginburg, Ontario) got the play started with a pass to the front of the goal and Altmann fired a hard shot into the back of the net.
Just over halfway through the second period,
Annika Zalewski (New Hartford, New York) made the score 3-0 with a power-play goal. Perry hit
Jessie Eldridge (Barrie, Ontario) witha a pass from the center of the offensive zone where she was waiting on the left side of the net. Eldridge poked the puck up to Zalewski in front and she then tapped it past Chemago.
The Big Green snapped the Raider shutout attempt when Kennedy Ottenbreit scored halfway through the third.
Colgate quickly responded with a goal from Eldridge less than two minutes later. Zalewski sent the puck into the zone and Eldridge beat the defenders to score her first goal of the game and second point.
Bailey Larson (Sycamore, Illinois) netted her team-leading 11th goal of the season with eight minutes remaining in regulation. She stole the puck from the Big Green defense and shot from the blue line on the empty Dartmouth net.
Larson added another empty netter with less than three minutes to be played. Lauren WIldfang (Waterdown, Ontario) cleared the puck from the defensive end and Larson was able to beat the Big Green defenders to the puck to extend the lead to 6-1.
Julia Vandyk ended the night with 30 saves in net, while Chemago recorded 36 stops.
