HAMILTON – Harvard flipped the script on Colgate Women's Hockey here Saturday night, defeating the Raiders 4-1 to force a Game 3 in the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals.
Less than 30 hours after Colgate took the opening game of this best-of-three playoff series, 4-1, the Crimson responded in the same manner to extend the series for one more contest.
The rubber match of this 4-seed vs. 5-seed matchup is set for Sunday at 4 p.m. in Starr Rink.
After a scoreless opening period on Saturday night, Harvard recorded a two-goal middle frame, one of which came off the power play, to create a gap between the teams.
Colgate's
Megan Sullivan cut that edge in half just 1:48 into the final period though when she finished off a
Breanne Wilson-Bennett rebound for her 13th tally of the year.
Unfortunately, another power play goal handed the Crimson back their two-goal lead before an empty netter ultimately secured the visitors the win.
Ashlynne Rando recorded 28 saves in the contest, including two periods with double-digit stops.
These two teams will meet up on Sunday in the finale of this best-of-three quarterfinal playoff series. Puck drop is slated for 4 p.m. in Starr Rink.
