HAMILTON –
No. 10 Colgate Women's Ice Hockey saw Harvard tally the eventual game-winner early in the final period to hand the Raiders a tough 3-2 loss here Friday night.

Colgate battled back after a first period two-goal deficit to knot the score at 2-all heading into the last frame. Unfortunately, the visitors intercepted the puck at center ice to spark a breakaway opportunity just 1:54 into the final period. Grace Zarzecky finished off the play giving the Crimson back their lead.

The Raiders then tried to rally and even had a power play opportunity in the frame but were unable to find the needed equalizer. Harvard's Emerance Maschmeyer was beyond impressive between the pipes in the final 18 minutes, securing her team the victory.

The Crimson were in need of a four-point weekend to secure home ice in the playoffs and are halfway there with Friday's win. Despite the loss, Colgate still could host next weekend's ECAC Hockey quarterfinals. 22569

Here is the breakdown:

• Quinnipiac and Clarkson have secured the No. 1 and 2 seeds in the tournament, respectively, while Dartmouth, Brown and Union have been eliminated. The rest is still up for grabs.

• Princeton currently has 28 points, while Harvard and Colgate both have 27 heading into the final game of the regular season.

• Princeton hosts last-place Union on Saturday, while Harvard is at Cornell, which is still looking to clinch a spot in the postseason. Colgate welcomes Dartmouth. The Raiders need a better result than Harvard to grab home ice. Princeton and Harvard, however, both hold the tiebreaker over Colgate.

Annika Zalewski notched both Raider goals for her first multi-score game of the season. Her goals came at the 6:19 and 17:32 marks of the middle frame and knotted the score at 2-2.

The Raiders have quite a big day Saturday. They host Dartmouth at 4 p.m. for Senior Day and what they hope is a home-ice clinching contest. The match also marks the last regular season women's game ever played in Starr Rink. Colgate moves over to its new Class of 1965 Arena beginning in the fall of 2016. Live stats and video will be available at the start of the game.
