HAMILTON - Colgate Women's Ice Hockey completed a weekend sweep following a nail-biting 4-3 win over Yale here Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, the Raiders doubled their win total from a season ago and have already notched two more ECAC Hockey victories than they did during that year.
The visitors took the early 2-0 lead in the first period but
Bailey Larson cut the deficit to one with a goal in the closing minutes of the frame.
Midway through the second period,
Olivia Zafuto tied it up at 2-all with some rare help from goaltender
Julia Vandyk. Four minutes later,
Annika Zalewski handed the Raiders' their first edge in the game at 3-2.

But with time winding down in the middle frame, Yale scored to knot the contest at 3-3. Neither team was able to score the go-head marker in the remaining minutes, sending the game into the second intermission tied.
The third period saw each team tally chances on frame but the score remained the same until there was about 1½ minutes remaining.
Megan Sullivan then handed Colgate the game-winner when she notched her second go-ahead goal of the season.
Jessie Eldridge was awarded the helper on the goal.
Vandyk finished the game making some key saves to keep her unbeaten streak alive. The rookie recorded 25 stops in her ninth victory of the year.
Colgate hosts St. Lawrence and Clarkson next weekend for two more ECAC Hockey games. The Raiders welcome the Saints on Friday before the Golden Knights come into town on Saturday. Both games are slated for a 3 p.m. start in Starr Rink.

How It Happened• The Raiders found themselves down 2-0 early in the game but Larson struck late in the first period to cut the Bulldogs advantage in half. Junior Quirion passed the puck over to Larson, who skated up into Colgate's offensive zone. She then fired a well-placed shot that slid right past Yale's netminder Kyra O'Brien to get the Raiders on the board.
• Midway through the second frame, Zafuto tied the game at 2-2 with a power play goal. Yale cleared the puck but Vandyk collected it and passed it right back up the ice to Zafuto, who blasted it into the back of the net.
• Minutes later, Zalewski put Colgate up 3-2 with her ninth goal of the season. The puck bounced off a Yale defenseman where Zalewski scooped it up and tried her luck on frame. Unfortunately O'Brien was there to make the initial stop with her pad but the goalie wasn't able to fall on the rebound fast enough as the New Hartford, New York, native finished off her own rebound.
• Yale tied things up at 3-all heading into the third, but the Raiders were in search of that game-winner. And that's exactly what they found when Sullivan tallied the go-ahead goal with less than two minutes remaining. The sophomore held the puck near the blue line, shifted it over to Eldridge, who passed it immediately back to her waiting stick. The Toronto, Ontario, native then rocketed it past O'Brien for the eventual game-winner.
• The Raiders were able to hold on the in final minutes to secure their 14th victory of the year and sixth in conference play.
