HAMILTON – Colgate Women's Hockey erupted for three goals in the second period here Tuesday night to earn a come-from-behind victory over rival Cornell.
Â
The 4-3 win marked the Raiders' first over the Big Red since the 2009 season and ended a 17-game winless drought.
Â
Colgate nearly edged its rival back on Nov. 17 but saw Cornell tally the game-tying goal with 18 seconds remaining to earn the 3-3 split.
Â
Despite trailing 3-1 heading into the second period of Tuesday's game, the Raiders erased any deficit by earning three unanswered goals to take the game 4-3.
Â
After Cornell opened the scoring just 77 seconds into the contest,
Megan Sullivan knotted the score a little less than five minutes later.

Â
Two more tallies from the Big Red handed the visitors a two-goal edge heading into the second frame.
Â
But that would be all that Colgate would allow, as the Raiders exploded for three middle period goals.
Bailey Larson ,
Kayla Haus and
Shae Labbe all added to their season goals total with Labbe's ultimately being the game-winner.
Â
The Raiders then killed off two Big Red power play opportunities in the final frame to secure the win.
Â
Julia Vandyk posted 17 stops between the pipes, shifting her season record to 7-0-2.
Â
