Colgate Closed Out its Appearance in the Friendship Four Saturday with 7-1 Setback to Northeastern

BELFAST, Northern Ireland – Northeastern scored six unanswered goals, including five during the second period, to break open a 1-1 contest and cruise to a 7-1 victory over Colgate in the consolation game of the Friendship Four Tournament Saturday at SSE Arena.

Tied at 1-1 after the first period, the Huskies used a pair of goals from Brandon Collier and tallies by Zach Alston-Reese, Ryan Rosenthal and Nolan Stevens during the middle frame to build a 6-1 cushion and take control of the contest.

Mike McMurty notched his first goal of the season with a little less than six minutes remaining in the third period to determine the final margin.

The two teams traded goals during the first. Alston-Reese staked the Huskies to a 1-0 lead at the 8:24 mark of the opening frame, only to see Willie Brooks bring the Raiders level with a power play tally in the 14th minute.

Colgate Head Coach Don Vaughan
(on weekend)
"The wheels kind of came off this weekend. We have to start over a little bit. We've been at this since August. Some of our guys are tired; others need to work harder. We've got a kind of mixed bag of things we need to correct. But, that's our job and that's what we're going to do."
