PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Senior
Taylor Craig registered her first goal of the season Saturday afternoon but it wasn't enough to lift the Colgate women's hockey team past Robert Morris.
The Raiders fell 2-1 to the Colonials to split the weekend series at one game apiece after Colgate earned a 6-3 victory on Friday night.
Craig recorded her power play goal 12 minutes and 33 seconds into the middle frame but goals from the Colonials in the other two periods proved to be the deciding factor.
Colgate went 1-for-9 on the man-up situation, while limiting RMU to going 0-for-5. Head coach
Greg Fargo's team also outshot the Colonials 38-30.
The Raiders fall to 1-2 on the season, while RMU shifts to 2-4 on the year.
Colgate is back on the ice Oct. 18 for its home opener against Connecticut. The game is set for a 2 p.m. puck drop in Starr Rink.

The Difference• RMU was booked for checking 7:07 into the final frame but was able to convert with a short-handed goal.
- On the second faceoff of Colgate's power play the Colonials intercepted the puck and started a fast break down the ice. Mackenzie Johnston, who stole the puck orginally, played it to Erin Staniewski on the Colonial defensive line. Staniewski then found Katie Fergus breaking up the ice, where the senior shot just past Brooks for the eventual game-winner.
Period Breakdown• RMU got on the board first scoring 5:57 into the contest.
• The Raiders evened the score when Craig netted one past Courtney Vinet for the equalizer.
- After a tripping penalty the Raiders were awarded a power play. Case and Haus moved the puck around the blue line before finding Craig in front of the net. The senior then slide one past the Colonial netminder to knot the score at 1-all.
• Early in the third period RMU recorded the go-ahead goal on a short-handed opportunity.

Head coach Greg Fargo (on his team's tough loss): "It was a tight battle today. Both teams played hard. I give a lot of credit to Robert Morris; they came out early in the game playing hard. We played a strong game, we had some good scoring chances and power play opportunities.
"Both goalies were good today as well. Brittney (Brooks) gave us a chance to win and their goalie came up with a few timely stops in the third period when we were pressing."
