HAMDEN, Conn. – The Colgate women's hockey team was tripped up when it faced the No. 9/10 team in the nation, Quinnipiac, on Friday night. The Bobcats took the 6-0 decision in High Point Solutions Arena.

Colgate (2-7-0, 0-3-0 ECAC Hockey) saw Miriam Drubel post four shots throughout the contest. Katelyn Parker and Taylor Volpe also added three shots in the loss. Brittney Brooks got the start in net making a total of 13 stops. Susan Allen came in for relief, registering 11 saves.

#9/10 Quinnipiac (7-1-1, 2-1-0 ECAC Hockey) received goals from six different players when Kelly Babstock, Emma Woods, Shiann Darkangelo, Nicole Connery, Cydney Roesler, and Olivia Agostinelli all notched goals. Chelsea Laden was awarded the win recording 20 saves, including a game-high 11 in the first period.

Despite slightly outshooting the Bobcats in the opening period 11-10, it was Quinnipiac who held the advantage on the scoreboard after the opening frame.

The Raiders almost killed off a tripping penalty but with 15 seconds left, the Bobcats converted on the man-up opportunity when Babstock netted one past Brooks. The played started after Connery and Woods worked the puck around the ice before finding Babstock for her seven marker of the year.

With four minutes to play in the first period, Colgate tried to equalize on a power play of its own. Following a tripping penalty, Drubel fired the Raider's best look on net but her attempt sailed just wide of the goal.

Seven minutes into the middle frame, the No. 9/10 team in the nation extended its advantage to 2-0. Rookie Woods was able to shoot one past Brooks thanks to the help of Babstock and Connery.

Less than three minutes later the Bobcats created a three-goal deficit following Darkangelo's four goal of the year.

Colgate was still in search of its first goal of the game when Drubel again struck two hard shots on net. Each time, however, Laden was there to make the save.

The Raiders headed into the third frame on the power play following an interference penalty on the Bobcats. Colgate still wasn't able to find the back of the net even after senior captain Megan Wickens hit the post and had her shot blocked.

Five minutes passed in the final period before Quinnipiac ultimately secured its win with another marker. This time it was Connery who placed one past Allen.

The Bobcats notched two more goals in the third frame to take the victory.

Colgate went 0-5 on the power play while Quinnipiac converted on two of their four man-up opportunities.

The Raiders are back on the ice Saturday when they travel to Princeton, N.J. to face the Tigers at 4 p.m.
