HANOVER, N.H. –
The Colgate women's ice hockey team skated to a 2-2 tie with Dartmouth Saturday afternoon, thanks to goals by Melissa Kueber and Jenna Klynstra.

“We got a complete game from everyone against a very good Dartmouth team,” head coach Greg Fargo said. “Our strong play defensively early in the game set the tone for the game and we were able to generate some good scoring chances as a result.”

Colgate (3-10-2) saw it's first goal at the 7:50 mark of the first period. The play originated after a Raiders faceoff win at the far circle. Klynstra, the senior captain found fellow linemate Casey Dockus, who played the puck right back to her for the give and go. Klynstra then found an opening behind the net, wrapped around the goal and placed the puck past the Dartmouth goalie. The goal gave Colgate the early 1-0 lead, and Klynstra her second of the year.

The Raiders grabbed their second goal in the next period when Kueber put one away. Stephanie Giannopoulos capitalized on a Dartmouth line change and played the puck quickly over to Kueber. She fired a shot; beating the goalie and giving Colgate back the lead, after Dartmouth had tied it up at the end of the first.

Ashlynne Rando once again made the start in net for the Raiders grabbing 27 saves, one of which was a stopped penalty shot.

“Rando came up with some key saves at key times including the penalty shot, which gave us a big boost,” Fargo added.

Dartmouth (4-2-2) was led by Sally Komarek and Reagan Fischer, who both scored goals in the draw. Fischer's goal was the game tying goal and her fifth goal of the season, coming at the 11:47 mark in the second period. Lindsay Holdcroft made 23 saves, including a game saving one on Rachel Walsh's shot late in the game.

The Big Green tied it up at two different points in the game. They first equalized with 1:11 remaining in the first frame. After receiving the puck from Margaux Sharp, Komarek fired a shot on net. Rando came up with the initial save, but could handle the rebound as the puck bounced in.

Yet again Dartmouth came from behind to tie the game after Colgate had taken back the lead midway through the second period. Fischer scored the tying goal 11:47 into the period. Sharp aided on the Big Green's second goal as well after she played the puck over to Fischer, whose shot soared past Rando.

Neither team was able to grab the game-winning goal in the third or overtime periods. Colgate earned its second tie of the 2012-13 season, the first coming against Princeton (3-3) on Nov. 3.

“Although we didn't score, our power plays and penalty kills were good again tonight and gave our team some important momentum at various points in the game,” Fargo said. “It was a well earned point.”

The Raiders are back on the road for two more ECAC Hockey matchups Friday and Saturday. This time Colgate will face St. Lawrence and Clarkson. The Raiders take on the Saints of St. Lawrence on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a game against Clarkson on Saturday at 3 p.m.
