HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/23/11) – Holy Cross junior guard Devin Brown made two free throws with 1.6 seconds left to play to give the Crusaders a 77-75 win over Colgate Wednesday night at Cotterell Court.
The Raiders trailed 68-56 with four minutes remaining, before piecing together an 16-7 run to make the score 75-72 with 16 seconds remaining. Colgate (7-21, 4-9) then tied the score at 75-75 after junior
Mike Venezia nailed a three pointer with 5.5 seconds to play. Sophomore guard
Mitch Rolls delivered the assist on the shot for his 100th of the season. Brown then took the inbounds pass and drove the length of the floor, drawing a foul as he went to the basket to set up the winning free throws.

Yaw Gyawu led the Raiders with 15 points, while Rolls scored 14 and junior
Nick Pascale pitched in 13. Rolls recorded a game-high seven assists, to become the first Raider with 100 in a season since Dave Hardy recorded 120 in 2003.
The game opened with both teams exchanging baskets as the scored remained tied 9-9 after the first five minutes of action. Holy Cross then put together an 18-7 run over the next nine minutes to build a 27-16 lead. But Colgate would end the half with a 16-8 run to make the score 35-32 as both teams entered the locker room. Pascale led the Colgate with 10 points and six rebounds in the first half, while Gyawu scored seven.
The score remained close until Holy Cross (7-20, 6-7) scored six straight points to reclaim an 11-point lead 58-47 with just under nine minutes remaining. The Crusaders would stretch their lead to 68-56 before the Raiders began their run.
Holy Cross was led by Andrew Keister with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Brown scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Colgate will conclude its regular season at Navy on Saturday, Feb. 26. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. at Alumni Hall and can be seen live on Patriot League All-Access.
