Hockey Game Central
HAMILTON, N.Y. (11/21/11) – The Colgate women's hockey team will return to the friendly confines of Starr Rink for a three-game homestand that begins with a non-conference matchup against Robert Morris on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.
The game will be part of a food drive for the Hamilton Food Cupboard. Fans that bring five non-perishable items will receive one free ticket to the game.
The Raiders are coming off a 6-4 win over Princeton on Saturday, following a 6-2 setback to Quinnipiac on Friday. Sophomore
Shannon Doyle had an impressive four-point weekend, first recording an assist against the Bobcats before going on to tally two goals and one assist against the Tigers. Classmate
Jocelyn Simpson also had a productive weekend, collecting three points from two goals and one assist.
SOPHOMORES LEAD THE WAY
The sophomore class stepped up last weekend, recording a total of 10 of the team's 16 points in the two games. The group first tallied two points with a goal and an assist against Quinnipiac courtesy of Simpson and Doyle respectively, before going on to record eight points against Princeton on Saturday. Doyle had two goals and one assist while Simpson and
Rachel Walsh had one goal and one assist apiece.
Taylor Volpe also added a point with an assist against the Tigers.
SCORING LEADERS
Colgate (5-8-1, 2-4-1 ECAC Hockey) is led by junior
Brittany Phillips who has 15 points from five goals and 10 assists. She is followed by
Jocelyn Simpson who has four goals and eight assists for 12 points. Behind them are
Melissa Kueber and
Shannon Doyle who both have 11 points each. Kueber, who is tied for third in the league in goals, has eight goals and three assists while Doyle, who is ranked 13th in the nation for points per game by a defenseman, has three goals and eight assists.
SASS APPROACHING PROGRAM RECORDS
Senior
Kimberly Sass continues to have a solid performance in net for the Raiders, collecting a total of 58 saves and one assist last weekend. She is currently ranked second in program history with 2,009 career saves, is tied for third in career wins with 29 and is fourth in career shutouts with seven. The goaltender currently has a league-high 383 saves this season.
SERIES
This will be the second matchup in program history between the two teams. The first meeting was in the 2005-06 season when Colgate defeated Robert Morris 9-0 at Starr Rink on Nov. 11, 2005.
SCOUTING ROBERT MORRIS
The Colonials (8-1-1, 0-0 CHA), who have played five two-game sets this season, are on a program best seven-game unbeaten streak. The team has four wins over Lindenwood, swept the two-game set against Rensselaer and has wins over Minnesota State and St. Cloud State. Its only loss this season was in the second game of the set against Minnesota on Oct. 15 and its only tie was in first game against St. Cloud State.
Robert Morris, which swept last week's College Hockey America weekly awards list, is led by freshman Rebecca Vint, senior Brianna Delaney and sophomore Thea Imbrogno. Vint has a team-high 20 points from 11 goals and nine assists. She is followed by Delaney who has six goals and eight assists for 14 points while Imbrogno has 12 points from four goals and eight assists. In net is junior Kristen DiCiocco who has played and started in eight games this season and has a total of 180 saves for a .928 save percentage.
