HAMILTON, N.Y. (10/18/11) – The Colgate women's hockey team will look to extend its two-game winning streak on Wednesday when it travels to Syracuse for a matchup against the Orange at 7 p.m.
 
The Raiders are coming off an exciting weekend, sweeping a two-game set against Lindenwood.  The team defeated the Lions 7-2 on Friday and then 8-2 on Saturday.
 
CHASING PROGRAM RECORDS
Two players came close to setting program records in Saturday's game. Freshman Melissa Kueber tied the school record for most goals in a game with four while junior Brittany Phillips is now ranked second in program history for both most points and most assists in game. She had two goals and five assists for seven points in the team's 8-2 win over the Lions.
 
ECAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Phillips and Kueber were named the ECAC Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week respectively for their performances over the weekend. Phillips received the Player of the Week award after collecting a total of 10 points in the two games. The junior had two goals and an assist in the Raiders' win on Friday and then recorded two goals and five assists on Saturday. Kueber completed the weekend with six points to earn the Rookie of the Week award. She scored a goal on Friday and then tallied four goals and one assist in the second game.
 
RAIDERS' OFFENSE COMES ALIVE
Colgate's offense found its spark last weekend, scoring a total of 15 goals and taking 93 shots in the two games. Junior Brittany Phillips now leads the team with 10 points from four goals and six assists while freshman Melissa Kueber has a team-best five goals and one assist for six points. Sophomore Jocelyn Simpson also has six points from one goal and five assists.
 
The team, which currently has a total of 42 points, has fourteen players with at least one point and eight with two or more.
 
BETWEEN THE PIPES
Senior Kimberly Sass continues to be a force in net for the Raiders. The goaltender accumulated a total of 43 saves last weekend with 21 stops on Friday and 22 on Saturday. She now has 108 saves this season and a total of 1,734 career saves, which is fourth in program history.
 
SERIES
Colgate leads the all-time series 3-1-1 since the teams first met in the 2008-09 season. The Raiders dropped their first game and had their only tie of the series both last season. Syracuse first took the 4-3 win at Starr Rink on Nov. 23 before tying with Colgate 4-4 on Jan. 4 at Tennity Ice Pavillion. This will be the third meeting in Syracuse, N.Y. with the Raiders holding a 1-0-1 advantage. Both games on the Orange's ice have ended in overtime.
 
SCOUTING SYRACUSE
The Orange (2-4) is coming off a pair of losses to Clarkson in a two-game set last weekend. The team fell to the Golden Knights 3-2 on Friday and 4-2 on Saturday. Syracuse has also suffered losses to Northeastern and Minnesota, and has secured wins over St. Cloud State and New Hampshire.
 
The team, which was picked to finish second in the College Hockey America (CHA) preseason poll, is led by freshman Shiann Darkangelo who has four points from four assists. She is followed by junior Holly Carrie-Mattimoe, senior Megan Skelly and sophomore Sadie St. Germain, who each have three points apiece. Carrie-Mattimoe has three assists, while Skelly and St. Germain have one goal and two assists each.
