Bourdon scored the lone goal for the Raiders
Box Score

HAMDEN, Conn. (1/7/11) –
The Colgate men's hockey team dropped its sixth conference game of the season with a 3-1 loss at Quinnipiac on Friday night at the TD Bank Sports Center.

The Raiders (3-15-2, 0-6-1 ECAC) got their lone goal from Robbie Bourdon (Montreal, Que.) with the assists going to Jack McNamara (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) and Mike McCann (Barrington, R.I.). Goaltender Bryan Bessette (Melrose, N.Y.) made his second start and pushed aside 28 shots in the loss.

The Bobcats (11-9-2, 5-5-2 ECAC) won their fourth-straight game with Connor Jones leading the way with a goal and an assist. Ben Arnt also scored, along with Jeremy Langlois. Eric Hartznell earned the win with 24 stops between the pipes.

Colgate had a great opportunity at the 14-minute mark of the first when Austin Smith (Dallas, Texas) stole the puck and went in alone on Hartzell, along with Francois Brisebois (Montreal, Que.). He made Hartznell commit and slid a pass to Brisebois, but the netminder sprawled for the save. The opening period ended scoreless and was a very entertaining one with many scoring chances. The Raiders held a 16-11 shot advantage and each team had a chance on the power play.

Quinnipiac scored first with an unassisted power play goal 1:57 into the second period. Jones skated into the offensive zone on an even 3-on-3 attack and fired a shot. Bessette looked to be screened by his own defensemen as the puck went between his pads to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.

After failing on its third man advantage, the Raiders evened the score with a goal from Bourdon. McNamara took a shot from the faceoff dot that Hartznell kicked aside, but Bourdon was there and slipped the puck just inside the far post for the goal.

The Bobcats gained the lead back with 7:27 remaining. Quinnipiac earned a 2-on-1 down low in front of Bessette after a Colgate skater was taken down. Arnt received a pass from Jones and he put the puck just under Bessette's glove for the 2-1 advantage.

Colgate looked to have tied the game with under six minutes left in the third, when Jeremy Price (Milton, Ont.) put a shot on net that deflected off a defensemen and found its way through Hartznell. However, the Raiders' luck continues to be absent as Quinnipiac's Mike Dalhuisen swept the puck away from the goal line to keep Colgate off the board.

Langlois put the game out of reach for the Raiders with an empty net goal with 39 seconds remaining.

Quinnipiac had the advantage in shots at 32-25. Colgate went 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Bobcats netted one goal in four chances with the extra man.

Colgate will be back in action on Sunday at 4 p.m. at Princeton as the game will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
