HAMILTON, N.Y. (11/22/10) – The Colgate women's ice hockey team will end its seven-game homestand when it hosts Syracuse on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. in Starr Rink. This will be the Raiders' final non-conference home game of the season.
Colgate (5-9, 2-4 ECAC) is coming off a 1-1 weekend with a 2-0 shutout win over Princeton on Saturday and a 4-0 setback to Quinnipiac on Friday. Freshman
Jocelyn Simpson (Shorewood, Ill.) and sophomore
Jenna Klynstra (Edmonton, Alta.) scored a goal each for the Raiders on Saturday while freshman
Shannon Doyle (Baldwin, Ont.) dished out two assists.
POINT LEADERS
Sophomore
Brittany Phillips (Lauder, Man.) continues to lead the team with nine points off four goals and five assists. She is followed by classmates
Jenna Klynstra (Edmonton, Alta.) and
Jordan Brickner (Lake Forest, Ill.). Klynstra has eight points from a team-high six goals and two assists while Brickner, who continues to lead the team in assists, has one goal and six assists.
THE SERIES
Colgate leads the all-time series with the Orange, owning a 3-0 record. The teams first met in the 2008-09 season when the Raiders defeated Syracuse 4-3 in Starr Rink. They then went on to play twice more last season. Colgate won both games 5-4, with the first game ending in overtime.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
Syracuse (5-5-1, 0-0-0 CHA) is coming off a two-game set with Clarkson. The Orange split the set, losing the first game 3-2 on Nov. 5 and then winning the second game 3-1 last weekend. The team also has wins against New Hampshire, UConn and two over Union this season, with its only tie coming against Northeastern in its home opener.
The Orange is led by sophomore Isabel Menard who has 19 points off seven goals and 12 assists. She is followed by senior Julie Rising who has five goals and 10 assists for 15 points and by junior Megan Skelly who has 11 points from four goals and seven assists.
