CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (1/16/10) - Sophomore
Krista Dermott (Milton, Ont.) picked up her second goal of the season and the Raiders' lone goal of the game as the Colgate women's hockey team fell to No. 6 Harvard, 5-1. With the loss, Colgate falls to 7-14-3 overall and 3-6-3 in the ECAC while the Crimson improve to 9-4-4 and a 7-4-2 mark in the league.
Harvard relied on two quick goals in the first period to gain an early advantage against the Raiders. Liza Ryabkina was first to light the lamp for the Crimson giving the squad a 1-0 lead 15:28 into the first period. Less than 30 seconds later Leanna Coskren extended that lead to two, tallying her fourth goal of the season on the power-play.
The Crimson would score three more times before the Raiders got the puck past Harvard goaltender Christina Kessler. Dermott picked up the unassisted goal at 13:18 in the third period to prevent the shut-out.
Goaltender
Lisa Plenderleith (Ajax, Ont.) finished the game with 30 stops for the Raiders while Kessler made 21 saves for Harvard. Colgate went 0-6 on power-play opportunities with the Crimson finishing 1-6.
