ITHACA, N.Y.(11/24/09)  – Blake Gallagher's power play goal with 5:11 remaining in the third period lifted seventh-ranked Cornell to a 4-2 victory over 20th-ranked Colgate, Tuesday evening in an ECAC Hockey clash at Lynah Rink.

Cornell, which upped its record to 6-2 overall and 5-2 in league play, tacked on an empty net goal with four seconds left by Colin Greening to secure the victory.

For the third consecutive time against Big Red, Colgate got on the board first.  On the power play, Thomas Larkin (Cocquio Trevisago, Italy) worked the put to Kevin McNamara (Chestnut Hill, Mass.), who fired the puck on net.  As the puck was approaching the cage, Francois Brisebois (Montreal, Que.) redirected the puck in by Ben Scrivens at 10:57 of the second period for the opening goal.  It was the junior's sixth goal of the year.

Big Red knotted the game at 1-1 at 17:45. After hitting the post seconds earlier, Jordan Kary found an opening inside and beat Alex Evin (Castlegar, B.C.) for his first goal of the year.   The sophomore was a last minute addition to the Cornell line-up as he wasn't on the original line chart.
Cornell took its first lead moments later on the power play.  After a Colgate player was whistled for tripping, Riley Nash rifled a shot from outside the circle for his second goal of the year at 18:58.  Big Red went into the second intermission holding a 2-1 advantage.

Colgate got the equalizer 1:40 into the third period with its second power play goal of the evening.  Nick Prockow (Montreal, Que.) jammed home a shot inside for his fourth of the year from Robbie Bourdon (Montreal, Que.) and Larkin.  The goal was under review for between five and six minutes before the scoreboard officially changed.  For Larkin, it was his second career multi-point game of his young career.  His two helpers set a season high.

Evin played a little over 59 minutes before being pulled for the extra attacker.  The sophomore made 16 saves before leaving the ice following a Raider timeout with 58 seconds left.  Scrivens saved 28 shots in the loss.  Colgate outshot Big Red 30-20, including finishing with a 13-4 margin in the final period.

Colgate capitalized on two of four power plays against the second-ranked penalty kill unit in the country.  It was the first time the Raiders have netted more than one power play goal on the season.

The Raiders, which fell to 6-4-4 overall and 4-2-1 in league play, returns to action December 4 at Union.  Game time is set for a 7 p.m. face-off in Schenectady.
