PRINCETON, N.J. (11/21/09) - The Colgate women's hockey team fell just shy against the No. 10 Princeton Tigers, 3-2, at the Hobey Baker Rink on Saturday afternoon.  The Raiders are now 2-9-3 overall and 1-4-3 in the conference while the Tigers improve to 6-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the ECAC.

Colgate and Princeton each picked up a goal in the first and second periods, with the Tigers netting an unanswered goal early in the third session for the win. Junior Hannah Milan (Great Barrington, Mass.) assisted on both of the Raiders' goals.

Princeton was the first to score as Melanie Wallace put the Tigers up 1-0 just shy of seven minutes into the game. Sophomore Amanda Kirwan (Mississauga, Ont.) put in the Raiders first goal just a few minutes later tying the game 1-1 at 10:47.  Milan and freshman Brittany Phillips (Lauder, Man.) were credited with the assists.

The Tigers were once again the first to score in the second period with Paula Romanchuk finding the back of the net during the Colgate power-play.  The Raiders were quick to respond as senior Katie Stewart (Exeter, Ont.) put one past Princeton's Cassie Seguin with 1:15 left on the clock, tying the game at 2-2. The goal was Stewart's sixth of the season and third power-play goal this year.

Princeton picked up the game-winning goal in the first five minutes of the third period and were able to hold off the Raiders despite a flurry of shots in the final few minutes of play.  Seguin finished the game with 22 saves, while Colgate's Lisa Plenderleith (Ajax, Ont.) made 25 stops for the Raiders.

Colgate will now return home to host Syracuse University in a non-conference match-up on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7 p.m.
