HAMILTON, N.Y. (1/29/09) – The Colgate University women's ice hockey will put it's seven game unbeaten streak in ECAC Hockey on the line this weekend as it plays host to in-state rivals Clarkson and St. Lawrence. The Raiders face-off with Clarkson on Friday, Jan. 30 followed with St. Lawrence on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Starr Rink. The opening face-off for Friday's game is set for 7 p.m. followed with Saturday's game at 4 p.m.
Friday's game will feature live stats and live video, available on the Colgate Athletics Web site. Saturday afternoon's game against St. Lawrence will be televised by Time Warner Sports.
Colgate sports a 14-9-2 overall record, 8-4-2 in ECAC Hockey after a weekend sweep of Brown (5-0) and Yale (3-0), extending its winning streak to a school record six games. Leading the Raiders up front is senior forward
Sam Hunt (Calgary, Alta.) the ECAC Offensive Player of the Week with a team-high 26 points. Hunt has 12 goals and 14 assists. Junior
Katie Stewart (Exeter, Ont.) has 21 points while senior
Elin Brown (Calgary, Alta.) has 19. Hunt leads the team in goals with 12 while Stewart has 11 and junior
Evan Minnick (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) has 10. Senior
Kiira Dosdall (Fairfield, Conn.) leads in assists with a school record for a defenseman 19. Dosdall headlines the defenders with 23 points off four goals and 19 assists while senior
Clancy Todd (Thorold, Ont.) has 11 and freshman
Amanda Kirwan (Mississauga, Ont.) six. Colgate has rotated two goaltenders; sophomore
Lisa Plenderleith (Ajax, Ont.), and freshman
Kimberly Sass (East Amherst, N.Y.). Plenderleith is 4-5 with a 3.26 GAA and a .883 save percentage, while Sass the ECAC Goaltender of the Week is 9-3-2 with a 2.26 GAA with a.929 save percentage. Both goaltenders have recorded one shutout this season.
Colgate leads Clarkson by a slim 5-4-2 margin in the series. The Golden Knights have won two of the last four outings, including a pair of ties in the last two meetings.
Clarkson (13-8-4, 7-4-2) split with RPI and Union last weekend, losing the first game against RPI 1-2, followed with a 3-0 shutout of Union. Clarkson is led by senior Marie-Jo Gaudet and freshman Juana Baribeau. Gaudet leads the team in scoring with 32 points and tied with Baribeau in goals with 15. Junior Britney Selina headlines the squad in assists with 21. Goaltender Lauren Dahm has played 18 games for the Golden Knight's this season and enters Friday with a 9-6-3 record and ranks fourth in the nation with a 1.46 goals against average and sixth with a .937 save percentage.
St. Lawrence has a 14-4-1 advantage over Colgate in the all-time series. The teams have split the series the past three seasons, with the Raiders¹ last win on Feb. 8, 2008 at Starr Rink.
No. 4 ranked St. Lawrence (17-5-3, 11-1-1) enters the weekend in first place in the ECAC with a five game winning streak. Goaltender Brittony Chartier has played all 25 games for the Saint's this season and enters Saturdays with 1.88 goals against average and a .930 save percentage. The Saint's have 10 players in double figures in scoring, headlined by senior Carson Duggan with 29 points, while senior Alison Domenico and junior Tara Akstull have 28 and 24, respectively. Duggan leads the team in goals with 16, while Domenico leads the squad in assists with 18.
This season Colgate is a remarkable 10-4 at home and since 2001 the Raiders are 60-46-7. Colgate has outscored its opponents by 52 goals (317-265). All time, Colgate is 88-60-12 at home and has scored 140 more goals than its opponents at Starr Rink.
