HAMILTON, N.Y. (1/14/09) – The Colgate University women's hockey team hosts Rensselaer and Union on Jan. 16 and 17, at Starr Rink. The Raiders host the Engineers on Friday at 7 p.m., and the Dutchwomen on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Friday's game will be Webcast live to Colgate All-Access subscribers and live stats will be available for free for both games. Links will be provided on the Colgate Athletics Web site.
Colgate is unbeaten against Union, holding a 17-0 advantage. The Raiders have outscored Union 123-11 since the teams' first meeting in 1998. Colgate has a 5-3-5 edge against RPI in the all-time series, and is 4-1-3 at Starr Rink.
Colgate is coming off of a weekend sweep of rival Cornell (2-1, 4-3) and sports a 10-9-2 overall record 4-4-2 in ECAC Hockey. Leading the Raiders up front is senior
Sam Hunt (Calgary, Alta.) with 18 points. Hunt has nine goals and nine assists. Juniors
Marissa Dombovy (Webster, N.Y.) and
Beth Rotenberg (Toronto, Ont.) each have 15, followed by four players with 14. Hunt and junior
Evan Minnick (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) lead the team in goals with nine while junior
Katie Stewart (Exeter, Ont.) has eight. Senior
Kiira Dosdall (Fairfield, Conn.) leads in assists with 15. Dosdall headlines the defenders with a team-high 19 points off four goals and 15 assists while senior
Clancy Todd (Thorold, Ont.) has nine and freshman
Amanda Kirwan (Mississauga, Ont.) four.
Colgate has rotated two goaltenders; sophomore
Lisa Plenderleith (Ajax, Ont.), and freshman
Kimberly Sass (East Amherst, N.Y.). Plenderleith is 3-5 with a 3.63 GAA and a .875 save percentage, while Sass is 6-3-2 with a 2.60 GAA with a .921 save percentage. Sass has also recorded an assist on the season.
Rensselaer is 11-7-3 on the season and 6-2-2 in the ECAC after a 1-3 loss to Princeton and 3-3 tie with Quinnipiac last weekend. Junior Whitney Naslund leads the Engineers with 10 goals and 19 points, while freshman Alisa Harrison is on her heels with 17 points off six goals and 11 assists. RPI has sophomore Sonja Van der Bliek between the pipes. Van der Bliek is 10-6-3 overall with a 1.83 goals against average and .919 save percentage. Van der Bliek has also posted four shut-outs on the season.
Union has a 2-17-3 overall record, both wins coming against independent Sacred Heart. The Dutchwomen are 0-9-1 in the league, earning a tie against Quinnipiac last weekend. Providing the firepower for the Dutchwomen is junior defender Jackie Koetteritz with a team-high four goals and three assists for seven points. Freshman Adelle Calahan also has seven points off one goal and six assists. Four other players have six points apiece. Senior Lundy Day has played in all 22 games between the pipes for Union and sports a 2-17-3 record, with a .906 save percentage and a 3.67 GAA.
The Colgate Ticket Office is holding a January Elementary Ticket Promotion for any student in preK through 8th grade is invited to attend home games free. They can bring two family members or friends with them. All seating is general admission.
