Former Raider goaltender Jason Lefevre is in his ninth season on the Colgate coaching staff and seventh as a full-time employee. In August of 2008, he was elevated to an assistant coach after serving as a volunteer assistant the previous two years. He works primarily with Colgate's goaltenders, recruiting, and helps with the coordination of video services.
Since returning to his alma mater, Lefevre has been instrumental in training the Raider goalies. He played a key role in the development of two-time ECAC Hockey honoree and a First-Team Lowes SENIOR CLASS All-American selection Mark Dekanich (’08), who re-wrote the Colgate record book relative to establishing new single-season and career records. Drafted by the Nashville Predators in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Dekanich now plays for Medvešcak Zagreb in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
Current sophomore Charlie Finn has also thrived under Lefevre’s tutelage, posting a 16-8-4 record, .918 save percentage and 2.35 goals against average during his freshman campaign to earn Third-Team ECAC Hockey and ECAC All-Rookie Team accolades.
Prior to his return to Hamilton, Lefevre worked as an assistant coach at Utica College during the 2005-06 season. He helped recruit one of the top freshman classes in Pioneer history that helped Utica rise to a top-10 national ranking during the 2006-07 campaign.
Before his stint at Utica, Lefevre worked at the Salisbury School in Salisbury, Conn., for three years where he taught English and coached boy's hockey. Lefevre helped recruit members of the Salisbury team that won the New England Prep championship the year after his departure.
In addition to working with the Colgate netminders, Lefevre continues to coach goaltenders of all ages in the Syracuse area. He founded a goalie school at Colgate during the summer of 2007 that attracted more than 30 goaltenders between the ages of seven and 17 from all points of Upstate New York.
Lefevre earned four letters as a Raider, including one during the 1999-00 season when Colgate competed in the NCAA tournament. He boasts the 10th-best career goals against average in school history, 3.28, including a 2.58 goals against average as a freshman, which ranks eighth all-time. His.904 save percentage during the 1998-99 campaign ranks 10th in the Raider annals.
Lefevre, a native of Rome, N.Y., graduated from Colgate in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in English. He resides in Earlville with his fiance Lindsey Graham.
