Andrew Willis

Andrew Willis was hired as an Assistant Coach for the Raiders in December 2023. 

In his first season, Willis helped first year Melinda Haagensen set a new indoor school record in the women's pole vault with a mark of 3.85m, as well as the outdoor school record with a mark of 3.88m. Haagensen improved her school record six times throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons. 

Willis also helped lead first year Kiran George over the high jump school record with a height of 1.68m at the Indoor Patriot League Championships. 

Sam Epstein set new marks in the pole vault with the guidance of Willis. Epstein was able to record new records in both indoor and outdoor.

Willis has overseen 10 school records and three conference scorers in his time at Colgate thus far.

Before Colgate 
Willis spent time as an Assistant Coach at Clinton Senior High School in Clinton, N.Y. 

During his time at Clinton, he coached the women’s track and field team to multiple school records and a state championship  appearance. Willis also holds his own pole vault school record at this institution. 

Willis brings a diverse military background to our program as he spent time in the United States Air Force as a Crew Chief on the B-52 Bomber. While serving at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, Louisiana he assisted in countless sorties flying all over the world. Willis medically retired from the service in 2021.
