For the Raiders, Brown coaches outside linebackers under defensive coordinator Paul Shaffner.

The Buffalo defense that year was second in the Mid-American Conference and among the top-40 nationally in 10 major defensive categories, including: fourth-down defense (first), red zone defense (eighth), sacks (13th) and third-down defense (25th).

Brown previously served a two-year assistant coaching stint at NAIA-member Hastings in Nebraska. During his two years, Brown served as defensive coordinator, defensive line coach, special teams coordinator, strength coordinator and video coordinator.

The Mound City, Missouri, native got his coaching start as a student-assistant at Northwest Missouri State. The Division II power compiled a 76-12 records, won one national championship (2009) and was a four-time national runner-up during Brown's undergraduate and postgraduate tenures with the Bearcats.
