“I think obviously we played great defense especially in the second half, I think everybody did. We shut them out in the second half, I thought Garrington, you know it’s his first year playing and its great that somebody like that steps up. He’s done outstanding and I think he’ll get better and better. This is a great confidence boost for our defense I just thought they were outstanding.”

“I think we beat two pretty good teams the great thing about it was we did it a different way. We scored a lot of points last week, we didn’t score a lot of points this week but when we got guys banged up and somebody steps in and plays. I thought our defense was outstanding and if you have good defense you’ve got a chance to win. I don’t know if we’re going to be like 2003, but we’re 2-0 and I don’t think a lot of people thought we were going to be. An all-league cornerback decides not to come out and you lose the Patriot League Rookie of the Year and then his back-up gets hurt and you lose the starting offensive lineman, I think kids have stepped up and I think we’re playing pretty well.”

On overall defensive performance
“Obviously Uzi did a great job, he was a beast out there making some big, big plays right when we needed him. And Garrington Spence with that huge play at the end there, with the touchdown. Surprisingly he’s dropped an interception per practice and we always make fun of him that he’s never going to do it and this time he really came up with a huge play. We were really good, we had a good game plan a lot of checks and we had to work really hard to get those checks and be comfortable in there but once we were I think it was an overall team effort. We all flew around and had a lot of fun.”
On personal performance
“I feel like there’s a couple more things I need to improve on, I need to improve on my tackling. But as far as everything else is concerned I’m happy where our defense is at and we’re going to be a heck of a team down the road.”

On overall defense
“It felt a lot like the Lafayette game last year, because the offense had a hard time but that’s why it’s a team effort. We had to respond and play when we had to play. Defense did a good job, people had to step up because we have some hurt people others had to fill in once again, but still got to keep it in mind and move on to next week.”
On individual performance
“It felt good, finally getting a chance to play, have fun. The more we’re out there on defense the more we got into the game, got used to the tempo. I had fun out there.”

“We had to take advantage of their single coverage we worked on it all week. Someone had to step up and make some plays for the team and tonight it was me. The defense played well, I’m not going to take any credit for that. Defense played amazing tonight and really bailed us out when the offense wasn’t producing.”
On how they look two games in/improving from last game
“We played well tonight, we left a lot on the field the offense really left a couple points out there that we should have capitalized on. We’ve got to work on that, we’ve got to work on finishing drives. I mean I think we’ll be alright we’re just going to continue to improve. We’ve got guys hurt and we’ve got guys stepping in so we do what we can.”
