Relentless Offense Helps Colgate Prevail over Loyola

Raiders sweep Greyhounds, earning first League win

HAMILTON – Colgate delivered a well-rounded performance, outplaying Loyola in all areas of the court to sweep the Greyhounds and earn its first conference win of the season.

The Raiders nearly doubled Loyola's point total, 59-31, while holding advantages in nearly every statistical category. They recorded 43 kills to Loyola's 25, eight service aces to two, eight blocks to four, 39 assists to 24 and 37 digs to 29.



MOMENTS OF THE MATCH
  • Colgate jumped out to a 3-0 advantage behind a kill from Aubrey Anders and two blocks — a block assist from Morgan Reese and Julia Headley and a solo block from Headley.
  • Colgate continued to put together small scoring runs throughout the set, with a key pair of kills from Headley and Anders pushing the Raiders to a 21-14 advantage.
  • Loyola made a late push with four points at the end of the first set, but three straight points from Colgate — including kills from Reese and Tiana Owens, followed by a service ace from Reese — clinched the set for the Raiders, 25-18.
  • Colgate carried its offensive momentum into the second set, maintaining its lead early.
  • Loyola stayed within striking distance at 9-6, but Colgate put together a quick 6-1 run to double its lead, 14-7.
  • The Greyhounds briefly halted the run with a pair of points before the Raiders picked up where they left off, earning five straight points.
  • Ava Schabes registered two service aces, while Jordyn Moore delivered a pair of kills and Reese added one more as Colgate extended its lead to 19-9.
  • Loyola attempted a late push with four points, but Colgate closed out the second set with six straight points to win 25-13.
  • The Greyhounds held the advantage early in the third set, but the Raiders chipped away at the deficit to tie the score at 10-10.
  • Colgate then won nine straight points, its longest scoring run of the season.
  • Headley recorded three service aces, while Owens added four kills to help Colgate build a 19-11 advantage.
  • A block from Stella Labrecque and Anders gave the Raiders set point. Loyola scored four points, but a Greyhounds service error gave Colgate the 25-17 win.

  • The sweep marked the third time this season the Raiders have swept an opponent, including two Ivy League opponents.
