KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Raiders squared off with Fairfield in their second game of the tournament, but the Stags won 25-14, 25-20 and 25-15 to take a 3-0 win over Colgate.

"Obviously, we are very disappointed in the result. Fairfield played a much cleaner match than we did. The one positive of our match was our serving which was a better response than yesterday. Our group needs to get better each day and we need to make them better."
MOMENTS OF THE MATCH
- In a competitive first set, both teams went back and forth with two quick lead changes.
- Colgate had multiple players contribute kills early in the set, but Morgan Reese (3) and Tiana Owens (2) logged multiple kills to keep the set close, 11-8.
- Fairfield earned small runs of points to gain a lead and take set one, 25-14.
- Starting set two, both teams rallied, but Colgate took a 5-3 advantage, capitalizing on two Stags attacking errors and three kills.
- Both teams traded points as the score was tied at five different points in the set before Fairfield won four straight points to edge a 16-11 lead.
- Colgate made a late run in the second off two Stags attacking errors and kills from Owens and Reese, cutting the deficit to two, 20-18.
- Fairfield powered through set two, finishing 25-20 and going up in the count, 2-0.
- Set three started with both teams trading points before the Stags earned seven straight points to build a 10-3 advantage.
- Colgate tried to chip away at the deficit, but two small Fairfield runs ultimately led the Stags to win 25-15 and 3-0 in the match.
NOTES
- The series stands at 8-1 in the record books. The last time these two teams competed was in 2024 at the Yale Invitational, where the Raiders took a 3-1 win.
- Reese led the way with nine kills, the most she has logged in a single game in her career.
- Owens was behind Reese, totaling eight kills.
- Ava Schabes and Reagan Knipling split time as the team's setters, with Schabes totaling 12 and Knipling setting 11.
