ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Colgate women's tennis team fell to Navy 6-1 on Sunday afternoon to finish off their Maryland road trip. The Raiders won the doubles point, but Navy was able to win all six singles matches.

"Really impressed by the level we brought into doubles and our composure as a team to clinch that doubles point," said head coach Damien Prohaska. "An excellent performance and a great reward for the focus and energy this group has put into doubles all season. We brought good energy into singles, had decent starts across all courts, but Navy had great depth and built their points with greater patience and execution than us today. Still a lot to like heading into championships this coming week. We're playing some of our best tennis at an exciting time of year and we're hungry for postseason play."

The Raiders started off the doubles point strong, with senior captain Sasha Herman and junior Carina Cristobal taking line two 6-2. Navy bounced back with a win at line three, so the point came down to the line one pairing of senior captain Amelia Galin and junior Sophia Montero, who had a clutch 6-2 win to seal it.

Navy bounced back in singles action, taking four out of six singles courts in fairly dominant fashion. At line three, sophomore Rebecca Hess fell 7-5, 6-4 in a closely contested battle, and at line two, Montero won the first set 6-4, but fell 3-6, (3-10) to end the day.

The Raiders return to action on Friday, where they will head to Bucknell for the Patriot League Championships, with their opponent still to be determined depending on seeding.
