JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Colgate Softball dropped both ends of Saturday's doubleheader in Jacksonville, falling to North Dakota 9-4 and North Florida 9-0.
Izzy Ervin-Agudelo led the offense with three hits and two RBIs. Nora Megenity continued her strong start to the season, adding three hits with a walk and a run scored. Analisa Raffaelli compiled two hits, while Lily Haluska belted her first home run of the season.
Game 1 | North Dakota 9, Colgate 4
Colgate took an early lead in the first inning when Megenity walked and eventually scored on a double by Marina Taveras to right center. Ervin-Agudelo followed with a double to left center, driving in two more runs, making it 3-0.
The Bison responded with a two-run home run before capitalizing on a fielding error to score two runs and build a 5-3 lead through two innings.
Haluska roped her first homer of the season down the left field line in the third, bringing Colgate within one run. Colgate's defense then held strong in the bottom half, preventing the Bison from scoring, maintaining a 5-4 deficit.
The fourth inning saw North Dakota State extend its lead with two unearned runs before the Bison added two more runs with a homer increasing their lead to 9-4.
Despite a seventh-inning rally attempt with hits from Megenity and Raffaelli, the Raiders were unable to overcome the deficit and the Bison secured a 9-4 victory.
Kelcie McGraw started the game for Colgate, pitching 1 1/3 innings and allowing five earned runs on four hits. Maya Servedio relieved McGraw, pitching 4 2/3 innings and surrendering two earned runs on five hits, while striking out three batters and walking three.
Haluska recorded a home run and an RBI, contributing to her team's offensive efforts. Ervin-Agudelo collected two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Taveras added a double and an RBI while scoring a run. Megenity finished with two hits and a double.
Game 2 | North Florida 9, Colgate 0 (5)
Colgate began the game with a pair of singles from Megenity and Raffaelli in the first inning, but the Raiders were unable to capitalize, leaving two runners on base. North Florida took advantage of a fielding error to score an unearned run, ending the inning ahead 1-0.
In the second inning, Ervin-Agudelo reached base with a single, but the Raiders were held scoreless. North Florida extended its lead with three unearned runs off two hits, including a key two-RBI single up the middle, making it 4-0.
The third inning saw Colgate unable to score despite Raffaelli advancing to second on a wild pitch. North Florida added three more runs to its tally, capitalizing on a sacrifice fly to take a 7-0 lead.
Colgate's offense was stifled again in the fourth inning, while North Florida added two more runs on four hits, securing a 9-0 lead. The game concluded after five innings with North Florida maintaining its advantage, resulting in a 9-0 win.
Alexa Acker tossed four innings in the circle, allowing nine hits while conceding nine runs (three earned). Megenity, Raffaelli, and Ervin-Agudelo each collected one hit for the offense.
