Way, Vogeler Earn Patriot Football Weekly Honors

First-year, placekicker garner rookie, special teams league laurels

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Colgate Football wide receiver Peyton Way and kicker Luke Vogeler have been named Patriot League weekly award winners following Colgate's 37-0 victory over William & Mary on Saturday, the conference office announced Monday. 

Way was selected as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the first time this season, while Vogeler earned his second Special Teams Player of the Week of the campaign. 

Way posted a career-high performance against the Tribe, hauling in 10 catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns. The first-year receiver extended Colgate's lead to 14-0 in the first quarter with a career-long 27-yard touchdown reception, then opened the second-half scoring with an eight-yard touchdown catch on the Raiders' opening drive of the third quarter to stretch the margin to 27-0.

Way's 141 receiving yards represented the second-highest single-game total by a Raider receiver this season, trailing only Matt Fogler's 180-yard performance at Richmond. The outing continued a breakout stretch for Way, who has emerged as a primary target in the Colgate offense with 16 receptions over his last two games.

Vogeler enjoyed a historic afternoon in the kicking game, going a perfect 3-for-3 on field goal attempts and 4-for-4 on extra points to account for 13 points. The senior connected from 23, 34, and 27 yards across his three field goals. With his 27-yard strike in the fourth quarter, Vogeler broke a 40-year-old school record to become Colgate's all-time leader in career field goals made with 36.

The selections mark the sixth week this season in which Colgate has claimed at least one Patriot League weekly award.
