Former Le Moyne Baseball Standout Joins Lamison-Myers’ Staff

HAMILTON – Colgate University's Head Softball Coach Marissa Lamison-Myers announced the addition of Mike Smith to her staff as an assistant coach in September 2025.

Smith, who played 133 career games for Le Moyne Baseball from 2018-2022, most recently served as an assistant coach for Syracuse softball. He helped lead Syracuse to a 27-22 record in 2025, the program's second straight winning season, in addition to six ACC victories.

While working with the Orange, Smith assisted with infielders, catchers, and hitters. Additionally, he set up software platforms to gather data, logged games in Synergy, and helped to create scouting reports.

"I am beyond thrilled to welcome Mike to our staff," Lamison-Myers said. "His passion and work ethic will most certainly make an impact right away. I am excited to see how he can elevate our outfield play and his ideas on utilizing our technology to its fullest potential."

Prior to Syracuse, Smith served as an assistant baseball coach at his alma mater, Le Moyne, from 2022-24. He helped guide the Dolphins to back-to-back 20-win seasons, including 34 victories en route to the Division II East Regional in 2023. While a member of the coaching staff for three seasons, he was mainly responsible for the development of hitters using Blast Motion and Rapsodo.

Other responsibilities during his time as an assistant baseball coach at Le Moyne included the management of pitching data and the instruction of infield and outfield defense. He was also responsible for the capturing and editing of video that was used for player development.

"I'm very grateful to Coach Lamison-Myers and Coach Nandin for giving me this opportunity," said Smith. "I can't wait to get to work and contribute to the winning culture established within this program. Go, 'gate!"

Smith has also gained experience working in the front office for the Syracuse Mets (2022-23), serving as a data and technology manager for Prep Baseball Report (2021), and holding the role of Director of Baseball Analytics for Power Arm Performance (2019-20). He has also served as a private hitting, fielding, and pitching instructor.

As a player at Le Moyne, Smith ended his career with a .311 batting average, 133 hits and 12 home runs. Smith mainly played in the outfield but also earned time at every infield spot over the course of his career. In 2022, Smith batted .340 with 10 homers, earning him All-Region and All-Conference honors.

Smith was named to the 2022 NE10 First Team, NCBWA East Region Second Team and ABCA/Rawlings East Region Second Team during his graduate campaign. He was also a member of the 2018 and 2022 Dolphin teams that participated in the NCAA tournament.

Smith graduated from Le Moyne in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and completed a Master of Arts in Administration in 2022.
