Army West Point saved its best for last and fought off a valiant Colgate effort in a 62-54 Patriot League outcome here Wednesday night.

The Raiders led at intermission for the first time since their Dec. 2 win over UMass Lowell, and they were within 42-41 entering the fourth quarter. But Army put 20 points on the board for the first time in 31 quarters – nearly eight games – and held Colgate scoreless over the final 2:16.

Summer King's layup was the last Raider hoop and pulled Colgate within 57-54. Army had two chances the next time down the floor but King forced a turnover and Colgate had possession inside of a minute to play.

An Army steal and Margaret Hubbell's ensuing layup pushed the lead to 59-54 with 29 seconds remaining. Colgate was forced to chuck a 3-pointer that misfired and Army iced the game at the free throw line.

Army in the fourth quarter was 7-of-12 from the floor, 5-of-6 at the line and posted a 10-2 rebounding edge. Hubbell was huge over the final 10 minutes, scoring eight points on 2-of-2 from the floor and 4-of-4 at the line and grabbing four boards in that period.

King, the Patriot League's top shooter, finished with 12 points on 4-of-7 from the floor. She added a game-high eight rebounds and blocked three shots. Mylah Chandler filled up the stat sheet with seven points, six rebounds and a career-high three steals.

Chelsey32607 Koren matched her career high with five assists for the second game in a row, against just three turnovers. Tegan Graham also had her best scoring game since November with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

Madison Hovren led Army with 15 points, followed by Aliyah Murray's 13 and Janae McNeal's 10. Jess Lewis handed out six of Army's 15 assists.

32608• Head coach Bill Cleary (On the game) "We were happy with the intensity and today is an indication that when we have that intensity, it gives us an opportunity to win. As disappointed as we are with the outcome, we have to use this as a teaching point. We have to give ourselves an opportunity every game. And for that to happen, we have to play with intensity the entire game.

"It's tough because we are overcoming a lot right now, and every little detail matters. The players get that but it means us being more disciplined. When we were winning those games earlier in the year, when the games got tight, we became more disciplined. We have to maintain that focus, particularly when the games get tight."
