Colgate Makes It Two in a Row

43 First-Half Points Help Raiders to Largest Victory Margin This Season

 














HAMILTON – Colgate put together its most complete first half of basketball this season and won back-to-back games by defeating LIU Brooklyn 76-61 here Saturday.
 
The Raiders led 23-8 at the end of a quarter and 43-23 at intermission. Kateri Stone scored 13 of her team-leading 17 points during the first 20 minutes, including a 2-of-4 touch from downtown.
 
Stone sparked the Colgate bench to a 46-21 scoring advantage. During the weekend sweep of Towson and LIU Brooklyn, the Colgate bench outscored its counterparts 91-26.
 
Mylah Chandler added 12 points to go with seven rebounds and a career-high four blocked shots. The Raiders blocked seven more shots as a team to maintain their Patriot League-leading form in that department.
 
Chelsey Koren scored 10 and Summer King led all rebounders with nine, a career best for the sophomore center.
 
LIU Brooklyn's Shanovia Dove led all scorers with a season-high 25 points.

• The Raiders shot better than 40 percent (44.8) from the field for the third time in the last four games, and fourth time overall.
• Colgate was at 51.7 percent for the first half before cooling toward the end.
• Colgate returned to its solid free throw shooting ways, finishing 18-of-24. The Raiders are at 73.4 percent for the season.
• The 43 first-half points were a season high. Colgate scored 43 in the second half of its 67-62 win at Brown Nov. 20.
• Colgate's two previous victories were 67-62 at Brown and 76-71 over Towson.

Gate Grab Bag
• Attendance at Cotterell Court on Girl Scout Day was 947.
• Colgate hosted area Girl Scouts and they were well represented. After the game, the Raiders returned to the floor and led the Girl Scouts in basketball drills on Cotterell Court.
