WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Josie Stockill turned in her first career double-double and
Randyll Butler nearly matched that effort, but Monmouth shot its way past Colgate for an 82-62 decision here Saturday.

The host Hawks (5-4) shot 52.3 percent from the field to Colgate's 32.9 percent. Included for Monmouth was a 10-of-24 effort from 3-point distance. Colgate (1-8) outrebounded the Hawks 51-35, but 24 turnovers limited that advantage.
A balanced Monmouth offense placed four scorers in double-figures, led by Jenny Horvatinovic's 17.

From the Sources•
Colgate head coach Nicci Hays Fort: (On rebounding) "That was a huge point of emphasis. We wanted to attack them on the glass because we thought we could get some easy shots. We got 22 offensive boards and outrebounded them by a ton. We just weren't able to capitalize on that."
(On the comeback chances) "We fought hard. We got it to 10, got it to nine, but couldn't get it under that. They went back up by 15, we got it to 10, but couldn't get it under that. Monmouth did a good job of just knocking down shots."
(On the coming week) "Finals and then trying to get tougher."
•
Colgate forward Josie Stockill: (On her game) "I settled into the game and the pace of things and just focused on finishing. I got into a groove."
(On her scoring of late) "My teammates are doing a really good job of getting me the ball, and I'm just trying to contribute to the team."
(On her rebounding) "We knew some of the teams Monmouth had played gained a lot of rebounds, so we wanted to exploit that."
•
Colgate guard Randyll Butler: (On her game) "We just wanted to continue where we left off. Obviously we didn't get the win, but we just wanted to play as hard as we could. We knew Monmouth had good shooters. I wanted to be as aggressive as I could."
(On Monmouth's hot shooting) "They didn't miss – that's really what it felt like out there. All credit goes to them."
(On her rebounding) "One of my goals is to be an offensive rebounder for the team. I try and do that as well as I can (six today)."
