SYRACUSE, N.Y. (12/31/11) – Iasia Hemingway recorded her third double-double of the season to lead Syracuse to an 83-32 win over the Colgate women's basketball team Saturday afternoon at the Carrier Dome.
Colgate (3-12) was led by
Jhazmine Lynch and
Kelly Reid who scored eight points apiece, while three other Raiders finished with four points.
Candice Green led the team with six rebounds, while
Kelly Korkowski recorded four rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.
Syracuse (11-4) scored the first 10 points of the game and never looked back as it built a 21-4 lead in the first eight minutes of action. The Orange then extended their lead to 31-6 with 7:15 left in the half, before both teams exchanged baskets to close the half with Syracuse leading 40-14.
The Orange opened the second half with a 12-2 run to build a 52-16 lead, before the Raiders responded with back-to-back baskets from Reid to slow the Syracuse run. But the Orange answered back by finishing the game with a 31-12 run to record their 11th win of the season.
Syracuse was led by Hemingway scored a game-high 31 points, while grabbing 13 rebounds for her second-straight double-double. Carson Tyson-Thomas also recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Kayla Alexander finished with 12 points.
Syracuse shot 42.9 percent form the floor, while holding the Raiders to a season low 21.7 percent. The Orange also won the battle on the boards 58-31, while forcing 19 Colgate turnovers.
The Raiders will open Patriot League on Saturday, Jan. 7 when they welcome American to Cotterell Court. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. and will be streamed live on Patriot League All-Access.
