LAST TIME OUT
Freshman
Kelly Reid led the way with a career-high 13 points as Colgate (1-10) secured the first victory of the
Nicci Hays Fort era with a 71-59 decision over Wagner Saturday evening in Hamilton, N.Y. It was a completely balanced effort from the Raiders, who had five players reach double figures in scoring.
Lauryn Kobiela tied Reid for the team lead with 13 points, while
Kelly Korkowski dropped in 12 and
Candice Green and
Mariah Jones had 11 apiece. The Raiders led 33-21 at the half before Wagner rallied for a 43-42 lead with 11:38 on the clock. Reid's three-point play capped off a 9-0 Colgate run to put the Raiders up 51-43 and they never looked back.
SCOUTING NJIT (4-4)
The Highlanders are coming off a 60-50 loss to Rider on Sunday at the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center. NJIT was led by Uju Nwankwo who had 12 points, seven rebounds, five blocks, and three steals in the loss, while Nicole Maticka also recorded five rejections against Rider. Maticka ranks seventh in the nation in blocked shots with 3.5 per game.
THE SERIES AGAINST NJIT
This will be the third meeting between Colgate and NJIT, with the series tied at one game apiece. Colgate won the last meeting 85-58 last season in Hamilton.
WELCOME TO MY BLOCK PARTY
Senior forward
Kelly Korkowski is moving up the Colgate women's basketball record books. Korkowski is currently ranked seventh in Colgate history with 67 career blocks. With eight more blocks she will move into a tie for sixth with legendary Suzanne Bowen with 75. Senior
Tricia Oakes is also moving up as she currently sits ninth all-time with 61 blocks, two more and she will move into a tie for eighth with Caitlin Gillard.
FOLLOW MY REID
Kelly Reid is only a freshman, but she has made an immediate impact for the Raiders this season. Reid is leading the squad in rebounding with 5.3 per game, which places her 12th in the Patriot League and second among freshman. Reid pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds against Canisius.
THREE FOR ALL
Senior
Candice Green has made 81 career three pointers, which ties her with Michele Mancini for seventh all-time. Green is just 19 shy of becoming the seventh Raider to make 100 or more three-pointers in a career.
A LITTLE ASSISTANCE
Candice Green is also moving up the record books in assists with 201. She needs 65 helpers to tie Megan Ballard for 10th all-time at Colgate. Green is currently averaging 3.0 assists per game this season, which ranks sixth in the Patriot League.
FRESH FIVE
The Raiders welcome five freshmen to this year's squad and through the first 11 games of the season they have contributed 30 percent of the Raiders scoring. Guards
